spray tan faq

We use a variety of solutions from different brands and often mix them to make your tan truly custom and perfect just for you. Despite what others advertise, there is no true organic tanning product out there. They may have some organic ingredients in them, but there is no true organic tanning product on the market. 

We offer custom airbrush spray tans that are either a rapid rinse or 8 hour wear. A rapid rinse is often mistaken for a rapid developing tan, however, rapid rinse tans have high percentages of DHA and you need to rinse in 1-4 hours depending on the darkness you want in order to not turn orange or brassy. 8 hour wear tans need to be on a minimum of 8 hours unless you are wanting a slightly lighter tan and can be rinsed in 6 hours. Please consult with us at your appt to make sure you have the correct rinse time for your specific tan.

We recommend getting your spray tan 2 days before your event. This ensures the develop time accuracy, as well as any touch ups that may be needed if something doesn't go right. We take pride in our spray tans and always want our clients happy. If you are not happy with your tan, please reach our to us within 24 hours of your spray tan so we can address them accordingly and have a solution for you. If you are a bride, PLEASE have a trial tan done with us at least 2 weeks before your big day. We want to ensure we choose the best solution for you and that your skin responds adequately to that solution. This gives us time to tweak anything before your big day. Please make sure you let your wedding photographer know that you have a spray tan so they can adjust their editing if needed so that you do not come off brassy or orange in your most important photos.

We currently offer 2 tan packages: Buy 5, get 1 free & Buy 10, get 2 free. You will receive a tan package card with an expiration date on it and you MUST bring it with you to every appt. We do not currently offer memberships due to not keeping cards on file, but it is something that we are working on for 2024. We also offer custom tan packages for brides that include bridal pictures, bachelorette party and wedding day tans. If you are looking for a different tan package, please reach out to us as we are always willing to work with you to get the most tanning for your buck!

Every appt we assess your skin to choose the perfect color base (i.e. brown, green, violet) and the correct DHA percentage for your skin type. Every tan includes disposable underwear if you do not want to wear your own, cleansing spray, barrier cream, luxurious tanning solution and setting powder. If it is your first time tanning with us, we provide you with a FREE post care kit that include post care instructions, a spray tan safe soap sample. a spray tan safe lotion sample and a business card so you can get ahold of us or use the QR code to schedule your next appt. If it's your first time tanning with us, we will reach out to you the next day to ensure everything is going well with your tan and address any concerns if there are any. 

We will text you a reminder the day before your appt with your appt time and prep instructions. Instructions are as follows:

Tonight please shower, shave and exfoliate really well all over. Be cautious using a razor with the moisturizing strip, thay can sometimes leave a barrier that prevents the tan from taking. Avoid using Dove products (they can also leave a barrier on the skin), lotions, oils and perfumes after your shower tonight, as well as tomorrow before your appt. Tomorrow please avoid wearing make up and deoderant, if this is not possible, we have wipes for you to take them off. Please do NOT shower within 6 hours of your appt, Please wear/bring loose, dark clothing for after your tan. Wering underwear is required and w have disposable ones if you do not want to get spray tan on yours. Wearing a bra is optional, but you will have to supply your own if you want to wear one. If you are a minor, a parent/legal guardian/adult sibling must be present for your tan. If you are a male client, your female spouse or a female friend must be present for your tan, no exceptions. This is for the safety of our clients and spray tan artists. 

Please avoid any and all DOVE or OIL OF OLAY products.  These will strip your tan quickly.  Stay away from products with baby oil, mineral oil, alcohols, Alpha Hydroxy Acid and fragranced soaps (unless the soap is specifically made for spray tans).  Use pH Balanced body washes that are clear, these are best for spray tans.  If you plan to be in the sun, please use a lotion sunscreen that is oil-free and water-resistant. The spray on sunscreen contains high alcohol and will strip your tan, it is highly recommended you use the lotion sunscreen. Our favorite in SunBum.  Spray tans do not protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays, so wearing sunscreen is a must, especially if you burn easy. 

The longevity of your tan is based on several factors of how well you take care of it. Avoid hot showers, loofas, sugar scrubs and hot tubs. Wearing extremely tight clothing, sweating profusely and constant rubbing of the skin will cause your tan to fade faster as well. Make sure you are using spray tan safe soap in the shower and applying spray tan safe lotion once in the morning and once at night to stay moisturized. If you will be at the beach with sand & salt water or in a chlorine pool, a tan extender will be needed to prolong your tan. Your tan should last 7-10 days with proper care. We see tans at the beach lasting around 5 days due to the natural exfoliants of sand and salt water. You can get a spray tan as often as you like, however, your previous tan needs to be completely stripped from your skin to avoid any patchiness that may occur.

There are no true studies done on pregnant women and spray tanning. We recommend you be out of your first trimester, as well as consult with your doctor if they approve. We are not able to make those decisions for you, nor are we legally allowed to give you medical advice. Please always consult with your doctor on any health questions related to spray tanning. 

Our spray tan artists have been thoroughly trained on determining the correct tone and DHA percentage solution for you. Please make sure you abide by the rinse off time, that is the most important factor. Hormones can also play a part in how your tan develops. We've had clients on hormone replacements, pregnant and on their monthly cycle have different outcomes of their tans verses when they are not under any of those conditions. Please let your spray tan artist know if you fall into any of these categories so they can adjust your solution. 

Our spray tan artists have been trained on blending techniques, however, a spray tan will not completely get rid of your tan lines. It only helps minimize the look of your tan lines.

We require a deposit for your first tan with us to ensure our spray tan artists get paid for their time if you do not show up for your appt. We require a 24-48 hour notice to cancel or reschedule your appt. If you no show or cancel your appt less than 24 hours in advance, your deposit will be held for 3 weeks from the date of your appt and applied to your rescheduled tan or one of our retail products instead. We do not offer refunds. If you no show or cancel your rescheduled appt less than 24 hours in advance, your deposit will be forfeited.
